Website Needs
Analysis
Before making suggestions or presenting
recommendations we meet, talk about your business, and gain a sense of how you currently
market via traditional media. Then we recommend Web solutions based on your budget and
company objectives. The end result: a website that matches your needs and meets your
goals.
You needn't be computer savvy to establish a successful website. We'll work together
during each phase (conceptualization, planning, development, the launch, promotion, and
management of the site after it has gone live on the Web). Internet Island takes special
care to make the process clear every step along the way. |

|
| Step-by-step Process |
| 1. We listen to what you'd like to see in
your site, perhaps based on something you've seen on the Web. You complete a brief
questionnaire about site content. (To get a feel for your prospective web visitors, we
also have your customers complete a survey.) We help you understand what's possible and
appropriate, arriving at an agreement on general design. |
| 2. We research and secure a unique Web
address for your site. This is your domain name, such as www.yourcompany.name.com |
| 3. Each page of the site is assigned a
name. |
| 4. We clearly define website objectives. |
| 5. Topic areas of the web, its content,
and the target audience are defined. Appropriate media is specified: text, graphics,
animation, audio, video. |
| 6. A navigation outline and model are
created that shows all the possible pathways and links in the website. |
| 7. We incorporate existing marketing
campaign, brand, and brainstorm concepts into narrative and visual themes that unify the
web's look and feel. |
| 8. We create a storyboard (a simple visual
scheme that identifies the basic structure of the site, how one can navigate through it,
and a directory of pages within the site). We mock up several sample pages for your review
and approval. |
| 9. We create an internal production manual
which breaks out design strategies into individual detailed procedures. This serves as
Internet Island's guidebook for the project. |
| 10. We address issues of HTML development,
graphics, and database connectivity (if needed). This is the actual design phase that
produces working web pages. |
| 11. We issue a password to you that allows
you to preview the site under construction. Access to this restricted staging area on the
Web is only available to Internet Island's design team and you. |
| 12. We test and tweak the site. Test and
re-test it . |
| 13. We have you approve the site and
sign-off on launching it live on the Web. |
| 14. We launch the site, placing it with
one of the top ten website hosting services in the country. Rather than establishing our
own server computer to host your site, we defer to an expert company that specializes only
in hosting websites. This cost-effective strategy ensures maximum reliability and speed
for your customers. Your site is supported by a staff of talented administrators,
leading-edge computers, multiple high-speed fiber optic connections to the Web, emergency
power generators and other redundant measures that keep your site "up" all the
time. (Of course, on your behalf, we monitor their performance... which is consistently
exceptional.) |
| 15. We promote your site to appropriate
search engines, directories, and other appropriate sites on the Web that will direct
traffic to your website. |
| 16. At your option, Internet Island offers
on-going site management, maintenance, and design updates customized to meet the needs of
your company. |

Website Management
Following the initial design and
placement of your site on the Web, it will need to be effectively managed. One of the
hallmarks of a successful website is its changing face. Compared to other media, this goal
is quite quickly and inexpensively achieved.
As your company introduces new products and services, develops new promotions, experiences
changes in marketing channels, pricing, and personnel, Internet Island will update your
site accordingly. These changes are important to your company's success. They need to be
reported on your website to attract, sustain, and grow your Web customer base.
Internet Island offers website management options customized to meet your organization's
needs. If you're selling products online, that may mean updating your site daily or
weekly. If your site is only a few pages, monthly or quarterly updates may suffice.
